National Caregiver Month
National Caregiver Month

Caregivers are incredible people – they’re truly heroes! Senior caregiving takes the perfect combination of compassion, empathy, patience and perseverance. They offer so much more than extra set of hands. Caregivers support emotional health by also acting as companions.
November is National Caregiver Month. Do you know what a caregiver does? Greystone caregivers work under our “personal care” umbrella, which differs from home health. To qualify for home health, patients must have a medical need requiring therapy or nursing services. However, personal care does not.
Personal care matches caregivers to senior clients who simply need some extra help. Our caregivers, who have received basic nursing training, offer a full range of assistance including:
- Hygiene assistance
- Light housekeeping
- Grocery shopping
- Meal preparation
- Appointment coordination
- Transportation
- Medication reminders
Beyond the items listed above, many of our clients report their favorite part of having a caregiver is having a companion. Our caregivers oftentimes become a part of the family. They’re always there to converse with or play a simple card game. Because of this, seniors using caregivers are much less likely to experience symptoms of depression.
We agree with Dorothy – there’s no place like home! Our compassionate caregivers make it possible for seniors to remain safely in their homes, while also offering family members peace of mind. Help us celebrate National Caregivers Month by telling a friend you know about Greystone personal care.
