The Greystone Health Network Culture of Care
The Greystone Health Network Culture of Care

We’ve all been there. There, at that job.
That job where your hard work goes unnoticed. That job where your coworker feels more like an opponent than a teammate. That job where you feel more secure entering a bull-fighting ring than stepping inside your supervisor’s office to ask a question. That job where you feel stuck, with no room to learn and grow. That job where you know you have so much to offer, yet you constantly feel disrespected and ignored.
That job is not at Greystone Health Network.
A few years back, we selected a group of Greystone associates at levels of the company, from Certified Nursing Assistants to members of the C-Suite, to share their opinions about our corporate culture, what motivates them and how we could improve. After countless hours of discussion and deliberation, our Culture of Care was born.
In the context of our Culture of Care, CARE stands for Caring, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. It guides us and motivates us day in and day out.
Caring could mean engaging others with a smile, anticipating the wants and needs of those around you, not waiting to be asked to do something, practicing and promoting safety, or caring about your team.
Accountability could mean taking responsibility for yourself and your team, holding yourself accountable for your actions and knowing your role, acting ethically and demonstrating integrity, leading by example, or giving clear direction.
Respect could mean actively listening when someone else is speaking, treating others as you would want to be treated, valuing others’ ideas and opinions, respecting others’ time, and being polite and courteous.
Excellence could mean exceeding expectations, striving for your highest potential, passionately going above and beyond, leaving lasting impressions on people’s lives, or providing high-quality care.
Greystone associates acknowledge each other when they exhibit CARE values by filling out an “I Caught You Caring” card, summarizing what their colleague did to exemplify care, accountability, respect or excellence, and just how much they’re appreciated. Each week cards are drawn at random and the winners receive a gift card.
Healthcare occupations can be extremely exhausting and stressful, so it’s our priority to build and maintain a truly enjoyable working atmosphere for all of our employees. Our lives revolve around providing care to others. Not only have we devoted our professional lives to care, but we also devote our personal time to care by volunteering in our communities year round, both as a company and individually.
At this job, here at Greystone Health Network, we care. At this job, we motivate, congratulate and appreciate. At this job, we know what’s most important in a workplace, and at this job, we will always keep that a priority. That’s what our Culture of Care is all about.
