COVID Chronicles – Part 1: The Greystone Heroes
COVID Chronicles – Part 1: The Greystone Heroes

Who knew 2020 would be like this?
Kera L., a Regional Director of Clinical Operations at Greystone Health, certainly didn’t. A Registered Nurse, Kera has served in several different clinical roles for Greystone since 2008 and has had a front-row view of how COVID has impacted our senior healthcare communities.
“When you watch the news, you’ll find the media focusing on how many people are testing positive, while Greystone Health employees will always be laser focused on keeping our residents and employees safe from the virus,” Kera said. “Our unrelenting approach to all of our processes, procedures and protocols not only meet, they often exceed requirements from government agencies and health organizations.”
Each day, Kera works beside Greystone Health’s frontline caregivers and experiences the hard work and dedication of our employees. Her passion demonstrates that the focus will always be on the people we serve and doing everything we can to keep every one of them as safe and healthy as possible.
“Greystone Health jumpstarted preparations for the pandemic before the end of February, which was way before it was mandated by state officials,” she said. “Thanks to our quick reaction and ordering quality PPE early, we were able to ensure that all of our employees had all of the appropriate protection they required to safely care for our residents.
“Caring for people is our passion. This is what we do, because we were called into a life of service to others. We sacrifice our own health, safety, and time with our families to care for others’ families.”
Greystone Health is grateful for the tireless dedication of our clinical and operations teams, executive directors, and every staff member for their constant attention to the needs of our patients and communities to ensure exceptional service and care is always delivered. These teams are all heroes – they are working around the clock to support and care for our residents.
“Our patients want to come back to our communities because they feel that the level of care and compassion that they receive from Greystone Health goes above and beyond what they were getting in another healthcare setting,” Kera said. “We greatly appreciate how thankful our patients have been to be back in our care. In difficult times, it is those moments that keep us moving forward.”
We are so very proud of our “Greystone Heroes” who are on the front lines each day caring for our patients. These are uncharted territories for all, but what is familiar is the ability of the human spirit to rise up against adversity, to come together, and love and support one another. It means the world to us to help ensure that our patients are kept safe, get the best care, and have as happy and fulfilling lives as possible.
Greystone Health is truly an organization Where People Matter. We are doing everything we can to protect our residents and staff, and will continue this commitment in the days, weeks and months to come.
