CARE in the Community: Karen Kosan
CARE in the Community: Karen Kosan

At Greystone Health Network, we remain dedicated to providing care, whether it be caring for our patients, caring for our families, caring for each other or caring for our communities. This month we’re putting the spotlight on an exceptional Greystone associate, Karen Kosan. Karen and her family help with many company volunteer projects year-round, but she goes the extra mile and dedicates her time to helping many philanthropic organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
Q: Who has had the biggest impact on you in the volunteering community, and why?
A: My children. I try to be an example to them. I was not as fortunate in my childhood to have the many opportunities so I want to be sure to allow my girls to see as much aspects of their community so they will be able to make good and informed decisions as they become adults.
Q: Favorite place to volunteer and why?
A: Keeping Tampa Bay Beautiful. My family has been volunteering for the last 16 years. It’s my favorite organization because I love being outside on the beach or on the river. I feel we have not only helped beautify the land by removing all the litter in that space but helping the animals as well.
Q: How did you get introduced to volunteering?
A: Through family and church. I was taught that volunteering = Giving Back and Helping Others.
Q: What advice would you give to someone that wants to start volunteering?
A: Research the causes or issues important to you. Consider the skills you have to offer – then just try it. If you don’t like it, try something else but just get involved.
Q: What is your motivation to continue to volunteer?
A: My faith. I feel a sense of pride and self-worth.
Thank you, Karen, for all that you do! We are so happy to have her in our Greystone family!
